We are dealing with a modern-day Nixon.

The IRS admitted Friday to targeting and intimidating conservative and Tea Party groups. But why? The answer:  the IRS thought a quick apology and throwing a few “low level employees” under the bus could nip it in the bud and make it all go away.

They’re wrong. This will be one of the biggest scandals in U.S. political history -- if the media does their job.

This IRS scandal is a threat to everything America stands for. It’s why we fought a revolution against King George. It's one of the main ways the left brought down Richard Nixon -- they accused Nixon of targeting political opponents with IRS attacks to intimidate and silence them.

If you think it was just myself or a few Tea Party groups targeted, I’ve got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.

These attacks were prominently included in Nixon’s “Articles of Impeachment” and should be in Obama’s too -- if the media does their job.

How do I know?

Because I am the face of Obama’s IRS attacks. I am proof of how bad it is, when it started, that it was directed at individuals as well as groups, and that it did not involve only “low level IRS employees.”

It did not involve only “low level IRS employees.” It did not happen in only one year (2012). It does not involve one office in Cincinnati. It was a widespread attack (mine emanated from the Las Vegas IRS office). It goes to the top of the IRS, it started early in Obama’s presidency, and you can bet your last dollar that it was all conducted upon direct orders of the Obama White House. 

Most importantly, I'm living proof it was directed at individuals -- with the intent of ruining our lives. It almost ruined mine. This is important because the American public needs to see the faces of the targets. I have a wife and 4 children. I didn’t deserve this.

Here is my personal story. I’m a small businessman, but also a national media personality with a megaphone. I’m an outspoken critic of Obama. My views are seen by millions on Fox News Channel, and read at web sites like The Blaze and FoxNews.com. And in almost every media appearance its pointed out that I’m Obama’s Columbia Class of ‘83 classmate. You don’t think Obama noticed?

The result? In January, 2011 an unprecedented IRS attack was launched against me. My personal story of IRS attack was covered extensively by conservative media. 

In 30 years of doing business, I’ve had a spotless tax record. And I had never heard a peep from the IRS. The attack was so over-zealous and out of bounds, I was forced to hire one of this nation’s top tax attorneys, who took my case to court where we won a 100% victory.

My relief at being vindicated lasted five days! Then the IRS announced a new tax audit against me.  

My attorney had never heard of such a thing and, before me, assumed it wasn’t possible.

The many legal and accounting experts (who drained my savings)  all agreed this could only happen if I was on “Obama Enemies List.”

The attack was chilling and intimidating, affecting every aspect of my life. It was meant to bleed me dry, and teach me a lesson -- if you dare to criticize Obama, get ready to lose everything.

This IRS scandal gets bigger by the day. The latest development is that top IRS officials and lawyers were in fact aware of this scandal since 2011 (the very year I was targeted).

It gets worse. It turns out the IRS was also targeting pro-Israel Jewish groups. It’s now gone from political targeting to racism and anti-Semitism.

“Enough is Enough.” It’s time our elected representatives in Congress find the courage to face up to Obama’s culture of lies, cover-ups and criminal intimidation. Nixon’s presidency ended because of the synergy of two scandals -- Watergate (a third rate burglary) and the sickening scandal of using IRS attacks to intimidate and silence his liberal opponents.

Obama now has two major scandals reminiscent of Nixon. Benghazi (the cover-up not of a third rate burglary, but of four murders of American heroes just 8 weeks before a presidential election) and the sickening scandal of using the IRS to intimidate and silence not only conservatives like me, and Tea Party groups, but also Jewish pro-Israel groups and anyone focused on protecting the Constitution.

If Nixon had used the IRS to attack one race or religion, he’d have been burned at the stake by the liberal media. This time even Obama has gone too far.

One more thing that needs to be pointed out. I wrote my new book “The Ultimate Obama Survival Guide” while being intimidated by the IRS. Sorry Mr. Obama, but your plans backfired. You can’t keep a good conservative down!

BEIJING –  Apple has issued an apology to Chinese consumers after government media attacked its repair policies for two weeks in a campaign that reeked of economic nationalism.

A statement posted in Chinese to Apple's website on Monday said the complaints had prompted "deep reflection" and persuaded the company of the need to revamp its repair policies, boost communication with Chinese consumers and strengthen oversight of authorized resellers.

State broadcaster CCTV and the ruling party's flagship newspaper People's Daily had led the charge and portrayed Apple as just the latest Western firm to exploit the Chinese consumer.

The attacks started backfiring almost as soon as they began and were mocked by the increasingly sophisticated Chinese consumers who revere Apple and its products. Nonetheless, Apple responded with an apology from CEO Tim Cook.

With threats of chemical war in Syria, a new antidote to poisonous cyanide attacks

Syrian rebels and government officials have accused each other of launching chemical attacks -- an escalation that, if confirmed, would mark the first known use of chemical weapons in the civil war.

U.S. officials downplayed the allegations and said they could find no evidence of such weapons.

Chemical weapons like anthrax, sarin, mustard and ricin often make headlines, but what about the threat of a terrorist attack unleashing cyanide? Some security experts believe the gas threat is real -- and this particular poison acts very fast, making it particularly challenging for first responders.

Fortunately, a new antidote holds promise.

The current treatment for cyanide must be administered by IV or intravenous infusion, a procedure that is time-intensive and requires highly trained paramedical personnel.

All this stacks up to an ugly fact: in a mass casualty situation, only a limited number of victims could be saved.

“There is no effective cyanide antidote that can be administered rapidly,” said Steve Patterson, co-inventor and associate director of the university’s Center for Drug Design, where Sulfanegen was invented. “In the case of a mass casualty situation, the emergency responders wouldn’t be able to treat most of the victims.”

The latest episode in the American Chemical Society’s Global Challenges/Chemistry Solutions podcast series brings very good news for this threat: A new antidote that may help seal off this gap in national defense.

Research undertaken by Steven E. Patterson, Ph.D., of the University of Minnesota’s Center for Drug Design and colleagues has discovered a promising new alternative antidote. And this antidote could be self-administered, sort of like the average allergy injection pens that many small children carry with them to school.

The new substance, called sulfanegen TEA, could be administered as intra-muscular injection.

Using a simpler procedure means a far larger number of cyanide victims in a mass casualty incident could be rapidly treated. Patterson’s report appears in ACS' Journal of Medicinal Chemistry.

The drug will be produced by a new startup called Vytacera, pending FDA approval.

“We intend to move forward as rapidly as financing and regulations permit,” added Jon S. Saxe, chair of Vytacera. “Our goal is to make this important advance available to those in need of it and to enable governments to be better prepared, which, ultimately, may help deter terrorism.”

Liberal media attacks as Woodward 'threat' seen as political threat to Obama

Former hoops star Dennis Rodman is on a diplomatic mission to North Korea and Watergate legend Bob Woodward is being defended by Republicans for his reporting.

Maybe the Mayans were right after all.

The stranger of the two is Woodward’s new-found star status with the right and his persona non grata status with the left. 

Bob Woodward was just the latest example of an Obama administration that has run roughshod over a press that caters to its every whim.

It was all Woodward’s fault. He committed apostasy, not once, but twice. 

He called out Obama’s lie about the sequester and reminded the world the whole ridiculous plan had been the president’s idea. Then, when the White House gave him heat, he told Politico that they had threatened him, though he never used the “T” word.

That “threat” came in email form after a 30-minute yell fest from White House economic adviser Gene Sperling. 

Many in the media have said Woodward overreacted. 

Former Obama adviser David Plouffe set in motion a Woodward is over-the-hill theme: “Watching Woodward last 2 days is like imagining my idol Mike Schmidt facing live pitching again. Perfection gained once is rarely repeated,” he Tweeted. (Yes, only Obama is allowed to be perfect more than once.)

The result was a social media feeding frenzy, followed by enormous coverage on the left and the right with Woodward even appearing on “Hannity.” 

The broadcast networks talked about the controversy in their morning shows, but were completely silent the following evening, less than 24 hours later. -- It was hardly the way old style media have treated big news from Woodward in the past.

Even the morning show coverage was less than stellar. 

“Today” gave the story just 16 seconds out of the 14,400 it had available on February 28. 

CBS “This Morning” did a bit better and noted Woodward was “accusing the White House of threatening him.” 

At least ABC treated it seriously, with ABC News Chief White House Correspondent Jonathan Karl mentioning Woodward’s importance. “Woodward isn't just any reporter. He's the one portrayed, along with Carl Bernstein, in the movie ‘All the President's Men’ as taking down Richard Nixon.” Karl also included the White House “threat.”

None of this is new – neither the actions of the administration or the media under-reaction.

The Obama administration has intimidated journalists since before it won in 2008. Intimidation, harassment and lack of access have been tools it’s used all along. But when the lefty icon of D.C. political journalism is the victim, it sets the gab-osphere aflame.

Liberal talking heads targeted the long-time journalistic celeb as only a betrayed lover could.

MSNBC host Ed Schultz called Woodward’s actions “a total failure by a legendary journalist” and Woodward himself “nothing but a drama queen.”

MSNBC goofball Internationalist Martin Bashir dug deep for a metaphor. “I’m actually reminded of that British parliamentarian who, when he was attacked by Foreign Secretary Geoffrey Howe, described it as the equivalent of being ravaged by a dead sheep.” (It was vintage MSNBC. There aren’t enough viewers for that to have to make sense.)

“Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski made fun of Woodward during the left’s favorite morning show, asking: “is he really afraid of a little aide who said that to him? Really?”

The liberal outlet Huffington Post, which operates like a voice of the administration, was quick to dismiss someone the left used to love. “Bob Woodward Emails Show White House 'Threat' Was Not So Threatening,” read one headline. After Woodward appeared on “Hannity” on February 28, the site called it “Fox & Friend.” (In the lefty world, being friends to Fox is a mortal sin.)

CNN’s John Avlon was just as dismissive, he was just on a theoretically neutral network. “This is Bob Woodward who fought with the Nixon White House? I mean Chuck Colson and H.R. Haldeman would be ashamed to see Gene Sperling not come at Bob with anything stronger than that.”

Even The Washington Post, which has prospered about four decades on Woodward scoops, made light of the battle, saying, “only in Washington does the back and forth between a legendary journalist and a White House wonk turn into an epic talking-head fest and trending Twitter topic.” An Alexandra Petri column on “How to Threaten Bob Woodward” actually included a color-coded graphic of “The General Scale of Threateningness” with the Sperling quote listed under the “Mickey Mouse” category.

Once more, the media are choosing to bury a major issue in garbage, rather than address it.

Woodward was just the latest example of an administration that has run roughshod over a press that caters to its every whim. If Obama was the head of a political party whose name began with an R instead of a D, the American media would have declared war on him years ago.

Instead it’s the reverse. 

The liberal press adore Obama no matter how poorly he treats them. And anyone in the media – from CNBC stars Rick Santelli and Jim Cramer to Matt Drudge and, yes, Woodward – gets targeted if they dare challenge our thin-skinned overlord.
